Why not mix shampoo and conditioner?

Well I was curious so I searched it on here. One question had everybody saying not to...and another one had everybody saying you should.

I have this Herbal Essence Straightening Shampoo and the Conditioner for it...and when I use conditioner on my head it never usually spreads like shampoo does...so maybe mixing them would be the best?

If I shouldn't...why?Why not mix shampoo and conditioner?
The purpose of shampoo is to clean and strengthen your scalp. The purpose of conditioner is ,well, to condition and moisturize. Its not a big deal of you mix them together, it won't kill you, but shampoo and conditioner are more effective when used separately. You need to use more conditioner than shampoo if you want it to spread well. Why not mix shampoo and conditioner?
Shampoo's job is to open up the hair shaft and remove the dirt, debris and damage that occurs daily to your hair. Conditioner's job is to seal the hair shaft back shut after the cleansing to prevent damage to the hair shaft. This is why when you shampoo and rinse out the shampoo you use as warm of water as possible and then to seal the hair you rinse the conditioner out with cooler temp water. This helps the sealing process.

So shampoo using hot water, condition using tepid temp water. Did this explain things?
i really doesn't matter whats the worst that can happen you can also wash it again.
shampoo spreads because its soapy conditioner isnt. try mixing them and see what happens
